Oga Sea Salt

Oga is said to have the perfect conditions for creating salt with minimal impurities and high sodium levels as a result of different currents being mixed together. The conditions are that there are no large rivers running nearby, ocean currents are strong, and the seawater is relatively pure. At Oga Kōbō, “The Salt of Oga Peninsula” is made using the pure, mineral-filled seawater of Oga using the “transpiration method” which consists of slowly simmering seawater below boiling point in a flat kettle.
