A week before the festival a Kashima doll will be handed around each house, burdening bad fortune onto the doll. On the festival day, the doll will be rested on the Kashima boat, marched around the village, and finally floated 1.2km away from the port. If the doll washes up on a shore, it is said that the shore will be gifted with rich "Hatahata" catch. This festival is one of the valuable folk events in Oga.
